Inspired by a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling landscape and Chimayo in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I just had to capture that magical moment! Rhythmic waves  in the sky and along the hillsides create a harmonious scene that flows with light, texture and color.

In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up into the treetops, mesmerized by the scene overhead. I chose uplifting yellows and golds contrasted against a turquoise blue sky with gentle clouds drifting by to lift your spirits. I've arranged the aspens in a spiral pattern so that you have a sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the forest, connecting with nature and the heavens above.

Utilizing thick, curving paint strokes also adds to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery.

Enjoying the melodic tinkling of the aspen leaves rustling in the breeze, the trickling sounds of the babbling brook at our side, and the beauty of fall ablaze with color, I felt invigorated as I began painting this aspen forest. The setting was so peaceful and rejuvenating that I wanted to communicate that joyful feeling of discovery. Filling the canvas with energetic staccato strokes and bold colors, in addition to gently arching the tree trunks reaching towards the sky, add to that uplifting feeling. And then just a sliver of the trail cutting through the forest, suggests the excitement of the journey that is to come.

Just Sold through The Good Art Company Gallery! I painted "Texas Trails" this spring while visiting Austin and the surrounding area. This might have been one of the best years for the bluebonnets and wildflowers. The explosion of color along roadsides was incredible! This morning started out slightly overcast, and the sun kept peeking in and out of the clouds, creating a soft glow to everything it touched. I wanted to capture that magical light illuminating your journey on this Texas walking trail lined by bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush. I hope you, too, can feel the excitement of springtime with the wildflowers abloom in the Texas Hill Country!

In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of the desert's vibrant wildflowers flowing along its rocky terrain.  Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while making sure not to over blend my thick strokes allows you to see the marks and feel the energy found in nature.

Just sold! Inspired by a trip to Colorado in the fall, trying to catch the beautiful autumn aspens leaves before they dropped, we just caught the last glimpse of color before an early snowfall hit. The combination of golden leaves set against the vivid blue sky, and the cool snow shadows contrasted against glowing light highlights as the sun cast its warming rays, was a symphony to the eye! Bordering on the edge of abstraction and the cusp of realism, Knot in the Woods is loaded with layers of paint, built up with thin glazes and then palette knife to create extreme dimension. Choosing to come in tight on the subject, I played around with various strokes and paint thicknesses to add depth and dimension. Splashes of gold and pops of fire-engine red add excitement and energy to the expansive aspen forest.

Inspired by the gorgeous aspen groves located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain rising above Santa Fe, I wanted to capture this magical morning light casting its warm glow on the forest. Peaceful and mysterious, the sun's rays peek through the knotted trunks causing the landscape to dance with light and awaken with autumn’s kaleidoscope of colors. Loaded with texture and layers and layers of paint, the forest shimmers with hope and discovery for the new day.

In this forest, the kaleidoscope of autumn colors was ablaze, and I was attracted to the dappled light raking across the trail, illuminating the winding path and casting long shadows. The sunlight was almost beckoning us to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing walk in the woods!

After living in a city surrounded by concrete and noise, I find being surrounded by mother nature to be extremely cathartic, peaceful and rejuvenating. In Forest Edge, I wanted to capture those feelings of happiness and tranquility. Working first with thin drippy paint, and then building up thick layers of oil paint with palette knives to achieve extreme dimension, this painting is loaded with movement, energy and color. I hope it lifts your spirits and recharges your batteries while bringing texture, joy and the outdoors inside your home.

I loved this brilliant aspen forest with its bright white aspen trunks slicing through all of the vibrant red and yellow foliage. The patterns of the trees created a sort of rhythm and I focused on the placement of the ivory sentinels, the diagonal purple shadows that they cast and the rustling of the leaves to add to that musical feeling. I hope you, too, can sense the energy and joy of being surrounded by nature as autumn is in full swing.
