In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of the desert's vibrant wildflowers flowing along its rocky terrain.  Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while making sure not to over blend my thick strokes allows you to see the marks and feel the energy found in nature.

On a visit to New Mexico, we were greeted to cheerful wildflowers blossoming, adding pops of joy and sunshine to the desert scenery. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms and their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.

Just sold! Inspired by a trip to Colorado in the fall, trying to catch the beautiful autumn aspens leaves before they dropped, we just caught the last glimpse of color before an early snowfall hit. The combination of golden leaves set against the vivid blue sky, and the cool snow shadows contrasted against glowing light highlights as the sun cast its warming rays, was a symphony to the eye! I hope you, too, can slow down and enjoy the beautiful scenery on this winding journey.

Bordering on the edge of abstraction and the cusp of realism, Knot in the Woods is loaded with layers of paint, built up with thin glazes and then palette knife to create extreme dimension. Choosing to come in tight on the subject, I played around with various strokes and paint thicknesses to add depth and dimension. Splashes of gold and pops of fire-engine red add excitement and energy to the expansive aspen forest.

Inspired by the gorgeous aspen groves located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain rising above Santa Fe, I wanted to capture this magical morning light casting its warm glow on the forest. Peaceful and mysterious, the sun's rays peek through the knotted trunks causing the landscape to dance with light and awaken with autumn’s kaleidoscope of colors. Loaded with texture and layers and layers of paint, the forest shimmers with hope and discovery for the new day.
