"Musical Interlude II" 34" x 34" textured acrylic paintings on canvas
by Niki Gulley
In this painting I wanted to create a dream-like feel using one of my favorite flowers, the poppy. There is something awe-inspiring about the transformation of a single dainty flower into a dense explosion of vibrant, energetic crimson that delights your senses and lifts your spirits. Arranging the wildflower masses in the foreground to create waves of color and repeating those curving shapes throughout the landscape add to a sense of joyful harmony and tranquility. Expressive marks and bold palettes create an immersive environment that invites you to experience the vitality of the land itself, feeling alive with energy, freedom, and expansive possibility.
If you'd like to see this piece and the rest of the collection live, check out – https://www.instagram.com/p/DVY2TkBDjVl/. I will be unveiling them in person at The Good Art Company Gallery's this Friday. In this energetic series, "Land in Motion," I capture the living rhythm of the natural world. Sweeping brushwork, vibrant color, and shifting skies convey the sensation of wind moving through grasses, clouds drifting across vast horizons, and the ever-changing atmosphere of the open landscape.
I'd love to see you there! And, if you're not in town, check out this new collection soon online at goodartcompany.com/.
