New "Country Road" Textured Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

"Country Road" ©2024 by Niki Gulley
10" x 20 textured oil painting on canvas panel

New England in the fall is breathtakingly beautiful! The autumn leaves explode with a symphony of crimson and gold that makes my heart leap with joy. Add to that this picturesque, quaint country road and I just had to get out my paints to capture the storybook setting. I hope this scene transports you to a simpler time and place!

"Evolving Seasons" Large Scale Quad Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Evolving Seasons" ©2024 by Niki Gulley
Four 48" x 36" textured oil painting to form a 48" x 144" quadriptych

I wanted to create a large horizontal quadriptych, or four piece painting, that would flow from one season to the next to show the beauty of the forest throughout the year. Working on such a large scale invites you to step right into the scene and take a walk through the woods, enjoying all of the peace and joy that nature has to offer.

Here you can see all four paintings in a row, flowing from spring to summer and fall to winter. Rather than show the same exact scene at four different times of year, I decided I would rather show one long forest evolving from one season to the next to create a better harmony across the canvases. From the ground gently undulating underneath, to the pine trees flowing from canvas to canvas, to the rhythm created from aspens and oaks repeating, to the foliage and pops of color emerging and drifting into the distance, all elements are designed to add to the flowing symphony in "Evolving Seasons.

"Awakenings" Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley

"Awakenings" ©2023 Niki Gulley

Four 36" x 36" canvases to form a 72" x 72" quadriptych • Textured Mixed Media Painting

In “Awakenings” I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up into the treetops, mesmerized by the scene overhead. I’ve arranged the trunks in a spiral pattern so that you have the sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the woods as they connect with the heavens above. Flowing from one season to the next, my goal is to not only show the beauty of nature, but also bring awareness to the importance of protecting our forests. Trees are the lifeblood of our planet. We are their stewards, and as such, it is up to us to ensure their survival. The ascending vortex and the seasons continuous transitioning, reminds us of the cyclical forces of life and what our place can be within it. Possibilities are endless. Relax. Contemplate. Dream.

Commissioned Quadriptych Palette Knife Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

 ©2022 Niki Gulley
SOLD • Four 28" x 28" canvases to form a 56" x 56" quadriptych • textured mixed media painting

This year I was honored to have my collectors reach out to me and ask me to create a special painting for them on commission. For several years they had been enjoying a 72" quadriptych painting of mine. They loved how it brought them such joy and the feeling of being surrounded by the forest. But, when they decided to build a new home, my original painting was too large to fit over the fireplace in their great room. So, they decided to hang the first painting in another room and requested that I paint this new one smaller and to change the scene so that it would reflect the fall trees that grow around their new house. Voila! I hope you, too, can experience the joy of being surrounded by nature's beauty in this autumn kaleidoscope of colors.
